The MET: An Artist's Dream and Plenty of fun for Everyone

Recently,  I had the day off from work. It was raining outside and the darkening sky hung over the city like a damp rag. Wondering how I could get the most out of my free time, I decided to head over to the MET.  The Metropolitan Museum of Art located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan is an architectural marvel and a world renowned cultural icon.  It houses some of the world's most famous works of art including the popular sculpture garden,  which is one of my favorite hangouts at the MET.

Armed with my tablet and stylus (the latest in digital art technology of course) I make a beeline for the sculpture garden searching for the best examples of classical and neoclassical sculpture.  I come upon two pieces which I am greatly drawn to--both featuring that renowned hero from Greco-Roman mythology--Hercules.

The well-lit atmosphere of the sculpture garden allows me to pinpoint every curve and sinew of the two statues--helping me achieve a level of realism I am quite proud of.  I am but one of a multitude of artists that seek to find inspiration from other artists--from the past and from around the world.  From old master paintings and classical and neoclassical sculpture to ethnic and contemporary arts and crafts, the MET has it all. This museum has exhibits that singles, couples and  families will enjoy. Schedule a trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art during your next visit to New York City. You'll be glad you did.
