The MET: An Artist's Dream and Plenty of fun for Everyone

Image
Recently,  I had the day off from work. It was raining outside and the darkening sky hung over the city like a damp rag. Wondering how I could get the most out of my free time, I decided to head over to the MET.  The Metropolitan Museum of Art located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan is an architectural marvel and a world renowned cultural icon.  It houses some of the world's most famous works of art including the popular sculpture garden,  which is one of my favorite hangouts at the MET. Armed with my tablet and stylus (the latest in digital art technology of course) I make a beeline for the sculpture garden searching for the best examples of classical and neoclassical sculpture.  I come upon two pieces which I am greatly drawn to--both featuring that renowned hero from Greco-Roman mythology--Hercules.   The well-lit atmosphere of the sculpture garden allows me to pinpoint every curve and sinew of the two statues--helping me achieve a level of real...

Happy Holidays Everybody!

Image
Your Divali celebrations are over and you've just finished stuffing yourself with turkey and all the fixings. Now, you can´t wait for Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa and New Years Eve to arrive. As you enjoy all the food, fun and cheer don´t forget to make time for the ones you love. Whether you pay a visit to that elderly relative or reconnect with friends and former workmates you haven´t heard from in ages, nothing gives the holidays more meaning than those relationships we´ve been blessed with throughout the years.  The holiday season is a time when we get an opportunity to reconnect with our friends and loved ones for fellowship or to repair strained relationships. So as we listen to our favorite festive tunes and take part in all the holidays have to offer, let´s not forget the real reason for the season: all those who are dear to us.  Happy Holidays Everybody!

Let´s Get Organized!

Image
Stuff, stuff, stuff and more stuff. We all (myself included) accumulate an incalculable amount of stuff. All kinds of stuff--clothes, shoes, bags (both paper and plastic), electronic devices, outdated documents, old greeting cards, failed art projects, books and magazines. You name it I've collected it.  Over the years I have collected so much stuff it´s maddening. It´s gotten so bad that I have run out of places to store the clutter. I can´t tell you just how depressing it is to  wake up each morning tripping over that paperwork I brought to my home a few weeks back. Fed up, my partner keeps telling me to clean up my act and get organized.  Getting organized sounds great. Right? But how do you get started? It sounds so simple but it ain't easy. First of all, if you´re anything like me you can´t bear to part with the items that you have collected over the years (like that watch that your dad gave you after you graduated from high school or that casserole dish your mom gav...
